Acne
There are many types of acne and classifying acne by severity is an important step in determining what is the best treatment plan for you. Acne breakouts can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the number of pimples and degree of redness and if or not cystic acne is present.
We combine medical prescription skincare products with specialised clinical in-clinic treatments to effectively treat mild and moderate acne. Our treatments include the AlumierMD Detox peel or Obagi blue radiance peel.
Pigmentation
Hyperpigmentation is the darkening of the skin, most often caused by an abnormally high amount of skin pigment melanin. Melanin is the pigment that gives the body its natural skin colour. This can occur anywhere on the body but mainly occurs on the face. All skin types can suffer from this harmless condition. Individuals who have greater exposure to the sun are more likely to get pigment spots. There are many different types of pigment spots that can arise due to abnormal activity of melanin-producing cells.
Obagi Nu Derm with tretinoin and SPF is widely accepted to be the best treatment for hyperpigmentation and melasma – this is not available to purchase without medical consultation. In-clinic treatments include the Obagi blue radiance peel, ALumierMD Glow peel and the Dermalux Light Therapy.
Rosacea
Rosacea is a long-standing inflammatory disease that produces redness on the cheeks and T-zone. It affects 10% of the population and is particularly prevalent in caucasians. Although men usually suffer from serious forms, it often appears in women between 20 and 50 years of age. The cause is not well known but it is presumed to be related to pilosebaceous disorders, increased vascular dilatation and immunological impairment. Alcohol consumption, irritating cosmetic products, emotional stress, heat, sun, and anxiety can also trigger this condition.
There are currently, there are several ways to treat Rosacea- from topical creams, drugs (such as vitamin A derivatives), toLED Light Therapy such as our Dermalux light therapy.
Aging
As your skin ages and is exposed to UVA & UVB rays, the rate at which new skin cells develop slows down. As a result, the balance of new skin cells versus old is changed. Additionally, collagen and elastin begin to break down causing the skin to loose resilience.
It is not possible to entirely prevent the natural ageing process of the skin however avoiding the causes of premature ageing such as excessive UV exposure, avoiding smoking and wearing pollution protector on skin to prevent against free radical damage are viable ways of preventing premature ageing. Anti-ageing treatments to boost collagen and elastin levels can be used as a way of slowing down the natural process of ageing. High quality skin products to protect against UV damage such as Obagi SPF pollution protection such as Obagi vit c 10%, Obagi retinol 1% and Obagi Tretinoinn to increase cell turnover can also slow down the ageing process. In clinic treatments include botulium toxin, hyaluronic acid fillers, profhilo, Obagi blue radiance peel, AlumierMG glow and Vitamin A peel.
